Important information about the accommodation

1. Do you want to live in a Brno University of Technology halls of residence?

All Brno University of Technology students can apply for accommodation in Brno University of Technology halls of residence. Students older than 18 years can apply at any time throughout the year.

Students may request accommodation at Residence Hall of Brno University of Technology only under an agreement between BUT or one of its faculties and their university.

The accommodation office provides only long-term accommodation, for which reason we accept requests for accommodation for no less than 2 months.

2. How to make a reservation

You must complete and send a request for accommodation to www.kam.vutbr.cz/english – Request for accommodation.

Your request goes directly to your faculty and the Brno University of Technology accommodation office.

The accommodation office will confirm your booking after the faculty confirms that you are to be a student of the faculty. You will receive confirmation of your reservation from Brno University of Technology, after which your reservation of accommodation will be valid.

You have to pay for your accommodation from the date of arrival given on your request.

3. What to do after your reservation has been confirmed by the Brno University of Technology accommodation office

You have to pay the advance payment total of 450 EUR (or 10 500,- CZK) no later than 14 days before the date of arrival given on your request.

Please note, your booking will be cancelled automatically if your advance payment is not credited to your Brno University of Technology account 14 days before the date of arrival given on your request.

4. Why make an advance payment of 450 EUR?

The deposit (guarantee during your stay) amounts to 205 EUR (approx.4 774,- CZK). Your deposit will be used as a guarantee until the day of your departure. We will return the deposit (the remainder of your deposit) in cash in the currency CZK or into your account on the day of your check-out.
The accommodation fee for the part of first two months about 245 EUR (approx.5 880,- CZK) approximately (so you do not have to pay any fee immediately after your arrival).

5. What happens with the advance payment if the reservation is cancelled?

If you want to change the arrival date or cancel your booking, please inform us without delay at the address .
If you cancel your booking one week or less before your confirmed arrival, we will charge a penalty for accommodation not taken up to the amount of 5,000 CZK. We will return the remainder of your advance payment to your account (you have to pay also the fee for bank transfer). Brno University of Technology will use the bank details you state on your request for accommodation.
If you wish to be given accommodation after your booking has been cancelled, you will have to send a new request for accommodation.

Your booking will be cancelled automatically by Brno University of Technology if you do not arrive within 7 days following your confirmed arrival at the halls of residence. We charge a penalty for accommodation not taken up to the amount of 5,000 CZK. We will return the remainder of your advance payment by bank transfer (you have to pay also the fee for bank transfer). Brno University of Technology will use the bank details you state on your request for accommodation.
If you wish to be given accommodation after your booking has been cancelled, you will have to send a new request for accommodation.

6. What to do for your visa process

Please inform us if you need a visa for your arrival at the address . We will send the accommodation agreement directly to your private address.

7. Check-in

8. Check-out

When you move out of the halls, collect a checkout slip from the block gatehouse, clean your room and call the cleaner for an inspection:

of the cleaned room, with its furniture in its original position
of the empty and washed cupboards, bed, desk…
of the washed floor in the room (including behind the sofa and desk)
of the defrosted and cleaned fridge (begin defrosting a day earlier)
of the washed heating, the washed window inside the room
the cleaner will confirm your checkout slip if the proper handover of your room occurs, or will ask you to complete the cleaning of the room

After all this, come to the accommodation office to check-out and settle your account (www.kam.vutbr.cz/english/default.aspx?p=Office). We will return the remainder of your deposit in CZK in cash or into your account. If you choose bank transfer, Brno University of Technology will use the bank details you state on your request for accommodation.

check-out after opening hours, at night or at the weekend – students should come to the accommodation office on the preceding work day with confirmation from the chambermaid to check-out and settle their account

9. How to terminate your accommodation early

You must give notification of your termination one month in advance at the accommodation office and sign a new contract.
You can terminate your accommodation any time in last month of your accommodation, but the charge for accommodation will be made until the end of the month.

10. How to see your account for accommodation, food and services

You will receive a Brno University of Technology log-in and Brno University of Technology password at the office of the faculty that has confirmed your study.

11. How to pay your monthly accommodation fee

The accommodation fee has to be paid between the 5^th and the 12^th day of each month. Check your monthly accommodation fee (please see point 10. How to see your account for accommodation, food and services)
You can pay the fee by bank transfer (you have to pay also the fee for bank transfer, it depends on the bank you use). The bank transfer takes 2–3 days.

12. How to avoid paying a penalty fee

The accommodation fee has to be paid by the 12^th day of each month. After this time you will have to pay a penalty fee for each day (20 CZK/day). Please see Payment conditions in the accommodation contract www.kam.vutbr.cz/english/default.aspx?p=documents.
